Saturday 8:45am and 10:00am Classes: Receiving and Giving Care

Hello Everyone (From Natasha)

Tomorrow (Saturday) I will be teaching the double scoop: 8:45am CT Nia 5 Stages Self-Healing practice with a focus on Body Awareness. During this class, we'll practice moving with curiosity, using body awareness to discover what brings greater ease, pleasure, and vitality.

Then at 10am CT I will teach one of the very first routines I created for Soma Ranch that wasn't created strictly from traditional Nia routines/music.

In 2023 I asked my two trainers & mentors, Martha and Helen to each send me a few songs... some favourite Nia songs and a couple favourite non-Nia songs they thought would be fun to dance to. Then I built this playlist and created choreography to those songs.

Looking back, I realize this routine is really about receiving and expressing care, connection and gratitude. Martha and Helen have been trainers, teachers, coaches, mentors, listeners, encouragers, colleagues and friends throughout my journey. They cared deeply for my growth, not only as a Nia teacher, but as a person. In many ways, they have also been caregivers, gently seeing potential in me, encouraging me to trust myself, and creating opportunity and space for me to grow. For that I am exceptionally grateful!

Today's focus is Receive Support. As we dance, notice all the ways your body supports you, and how the care you've received from others can become the care you offer yourself.

May this dance be an opportunity to receive support from the music, from the movement, from the floor beneath your feet, from the community around you, and from the wisdom within your own body.

I hope to move with you tomorrow! xo
