13.1 Miles and we are almost at our goal

For the 5th year, Helen managed to complete the 13.1 mile, half marathon, as a St. Jude Hero. This is an annual commitment to raise a minimum of $5000 for St Jude. Presently we are 83% at our goal with $4163 raised to date. Together we run the race together; killing cancer and helping children.

Saturday 3/1/24 Helen Terry is teaching both the 8:45am Nia 5 Stages class and the 10:00am class.

Introducing our March Journey with Variety. We will focus on The 9 Movement Forms, specifically exploring the timing and chemistry of each personality After 5 stages lesson Helen will continue the focus into the 10:00am movement experience with her version of the Nia routine R1.

Fabulous Running Playlist for St Jude

Thank you everyone for the fabulous recommendations for an ultimate running/workout playlist. This what I intend to play this evening on my 13.1 mile run for St Jude.

The Lauren Daigle “Kaleidescope” Album has been my “healing go to” playlist for several months and the music I’ve most played during the training. This is going to be my “get going, you’ve got this” beginning.

A best of Teddy Swims playlist was my most amazing successful run, back in October, when I ran for more than 2.5 hours, and 14+ miles, running hills near our Hiker’s Cabin in Lake Cushman. The memories of the run and the joy experience will hopefully spur me on.

The rest of the songs are combinations of fun favorites and fabulous suggestions from our community (thank you). As I end the race I will be playing these, sensing all y’all with me and together we will cross the finish line, winning the race AND moving towards KILLING Cancer.

Lovely “Team St Jude” family times in Vegas

Annual Run 13.1 Miles + Raise $5000 commitment.

Joe and Helen are here in Vegas for their annual “St Jude Hero” half marathon commitment + tradition.

Helen runs 13.1 miles along the Vegas strip, starting at 5pm Vegas time this evening.

Joe is the amazing “support team” and cheer leader.

This year we have the extra wonderful bonus of Helen’s parents joining from the UK. How amazing in their mid 80’s they can fly, explore, accompany and cheer us along! We’re having a grand time and hope you like the photos.

Helen has chosen to make this annual run, and the commitment to raise a minimum of $5000 a year for St Jude, a lifelong endeavor. This is the 5th year to complete this quest.

Joe and Helen are back from a most enjoyable week in the UK, with parents, celebrating Helen’s 60th Birthday and the joy of being happy, healthy and able to enjoy family times.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Paul is leading the 5 stages class at 8:45am (Transformation with Continuing Education) then Helen is leading a moving experience with the music of Queen Latifah.

Preparing for Half Marathon

I'm on the wire for training for my 5th 1/2 marathon, Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas, on Feb 23. (and raising funds!)

Exciting news is my parents will be joining Joe and I for the trip (first time to Vegas for them!)

My training has been hindered by weather, foot injury, lingering upper respiratory stuff and more. I've let go of my PB goal to achieve an under 2 hour run. Now I've shifted to "let's see if I can finish!"

Look who popped over to Soma Ranch!

Life at Soma ranch brings frequent blessings and surprises! This week we heard a squeaky noise, when opening our kitchen door we found baby goat. We returned the adorable bundle of fur to our neighbors (P6 Farms). Then, later in the afternoon we found another hanging out on the porch. Yes! Helen was very tempted. Our neighbor even asked if we would like to keep the goats. For now we will wait (Chickens first!)

Wow what a wonderful start to the year we had with our month of JOY. Lovely to be learning from each of the fabulous teachers on the Soma team. Inspired by the recent Nia 5 stages training, Irene provided a fabulous Mini Feldenkrais series that focused on 1 of the 5 stages every week. These Wednesday 30 minute class were extremely creative and super helpful for participants.

Starting out our “Love Journey” through February. Helen is teaching a “double scoop” in the morning. Both the Nia 5 stages 8:45am class (with focus Heart) and the Sade “Lover’s Rock” experience.

As usual classes are available online via Zoom and through 24HR replay.

Thanks to Joe “holding down the fort at Soma” during the recent freeze, Helen was able to escape to Seattle and Lake Cushman to enjoy precious time with Daughter and Son-in-Law. With remarkable cool, crisp, sunny days, they were able to explore wonderful hikes from the cabin. We would LOVE to share the gem of a place with you. Though we’re taught the heart is a pump, it actually doesn’t pump; rather, it responds to pressure. The pressure the heart responds isn’t from one thing – the pressure comes from what is outside the body and what is inside the whole body - barometric pressure outside, emotional pressure from the outside, internal angst and pressure from the inside, physical pressure from plaque or cholesterol narrowing the amount of space in the arteries.
